CATARACT

eye1A cataract is a clouding of the lens in the eye leading to a decrease in vision. It can affect one or both eyes. Symptoms may include faded colors, blurry vision, halos around lights and trouble seeing at night.

this may result in trouble driving, reading or recognizing faces. Cataracts are the cause of half of blindness and 33% of visual impairment worldwide.

Glaucoma is a term for a group of eye disorders which result in damage to the optic nerve. This is most often due to increased pressure in the eye.

Glaucoma can permanently damage vision in the affected eye(s), first by decreasing peripheral vision(reducing the visual field), and then potentially leading to blindness if left untreated.

LASIK OR REFRACTORY SURGERIES

Lasik (laser assisted in situ leratomileusis) , commonly referred to as laser eye surgery or laser vision correction, is a type of refractive surgery for the correction of myopic, hyperopia and astigmatism.

The lasik surgery is performed by using microkeratome or femtolaser flap making procedure followed by eximer laser to reshape the cornea so that patient can get rid of glasses and/or contact lenses.

Different packages and rates are depend on which type of machine and flap making procedure one uses.

DIAGNOSIS

The diagnosis of cataract is done by eye examination. The pupils are dilated and the lenses are visible . Your eye doctor can grade the cataract . If vision is not improving with glasses and no other eye /retina disease then your doctor may advice cataract surgery as cataract removal and intraocular lens implantation is the only treatment of choice.

INTRAOCULAR LENSES

There are several types of lenses available worldwide. Broadly they may be classified as foldable and nonfolable. Foldable lenses are of usually acrylic material and well tolerated by eyes.

All cataract surgeries are done with phaco emulsification with abbott’s soveriegn compact elipsoid phaco machine.

Bladeless femtocataract surgeries also can be done at distant center those who want bladeless cataract surgery.
